Great Barrier Reef Foundation - $444 million Grant

Senior federal Liberals are reported to have been aware that prohibited donor, Brickworks had channeled funds to the NSW Liberals via the Free Enterprise Foundation.

Labor has accused the NSW Liberal Party of using The Free Enterprise Foundation as a secret "front organisation" to bypass laws banning donations by property developers. Election funding records show the Free Enterprise Foundation donated $693,000 to the NSW Liberals before the 2011 state election.

New Airport Built to Service CSG Gas Fields

Heather Pascoe is an outspoken advocate for exposing the environmental and health problems associated with the Coal Seam Gas fracking industry in Queensland and Australia. Her Alan Jones Interview concerned the new private airport built on the edge of the Australia's biggest Coal Seam Gas fields in the Surat Basin just west of Toowoomba in SE Queensland.

In the interview she exposes some of the dirty tactics employed against her, allegedly by representatives of the Coal Seam Gas industry.

"In July 2011 the Queensland State Government released a statewide infrastructure review which re-stated the view that a new and larger jet runway airport will be necessary to support regional development in the Toowoomba, Darling Downs and Surat Basin regions. ... however expense is a concern for Toowoomba Regional Council without actual Federal or State Government assurances."

Expense of the new airport is all of a sudden not a problem, as it is being constructed and owned by private company, Wagners.

Wagners have also tended to build a new $1.7 billion Toowoomba Bypass road, which goes directly past their airport on it's way to the gas fields.

Both the airport and the road will service the Coal Seam Gas Industry in the Surat Basin.

$1.3 billion of the $1.7 billion needed to build this road will come from the Federal Government, who in the 2014 budget have increased the excise tax on fuel, and the money raised "...will go into roads".

The Coal Seam Gas Industry is heavily supported by Australian Governments who are cash strapped and revenue hungry. The Queensland Government in particular has been financially hit hard by environmental catastrophe in recent years. Billions of dollars are needed to pay for reconstruction after cyclones and floods.

By heavily backing the CSG fracking industry, Governments are not only helping to destroy Artesian water and farmland, but are playing an active part in releasing unaturally large amounts of methane and climate changing gases into the atmosphere, in turn ensuring the increased frequency and intensity of floods and cyclones into the future.

Murdoch's News Corp blows $882 million Hole in Australia's Budget

According to the Financial Review, the single largest factor in the underlying deterioration of the Australian federal budget announced last December was a cash payout of almost $900 million to Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation.

The money comes from a Federal Court of Appeal ruling against the Tax Office to allow News Corp to claim a $2 billion deduction from a series of paper shuffles between subsidiaries.

Just eleven days later when the Australian Tax Office was deciding whether or not to appeal against the judgment, News Corp newspapers launched an all-out attack on the Labor government, beginning with the headline: “Kick this mob out”

In the following days, Labor Prime Minister Kevin Rudd claimed that News Corp was running a virulent anti-government campaign in exchange for concessions from the Coalition.

Since the election of the Liberal Government supported by Murdoch, NewsCorp has financially gained. Firstly when the Liberal Government canned the NBN, which would have allowed competition to Foxtel owned by Rupert Murdoch, and now a cash payment of $882 million.

According to this story in the Guardian on Murdoch's political agendas, "his blatant attempts to influence democratic elections, confirmed the way in which he links political interventions to his commercial business desires."

This Australian Government payment of almost a billion dollars to Murdoch's News Corp, comes at a time when the same government is cutting billions of dollars from social programs.

Keystone XL Oil Pipeline, Environmental Report
Conflict of Interest

The U.S. State Department has released a final environmental study of the Keystone XL oil pipeline that increases the odds the project will win approval from the Obama administration.

The environmental report was prepared by Environmental Resources Management (ERM).

A letter to President Obama from 24 House Democrats said, that the contractor ERM "worked for more than a dozen oil companies with financial interests in seeing Keystone completed."

U.S. Representative Raúl Grijalva described the study as, "a bad deal pumped up by well-connected lobbyists." He denounced it as a "sham," pointing to conflicts of interest by those working on the report.

Congressman Grijalva writes, "When the State Department was looking for a company to write the SEIS, TransCanada recommended its own environmental contractor without disclosing its existing relationship to the administration or anyone else. That's already well established. The question was what the State Department would do about it. The answer, apparently, is to release the SEIS as though nothing had happened."

According to this site ERM also produced the environmental report that is allowing the Pebble Mine in Alaska's pristine Bristol Bay wilderness to go ahead.

Whether or not ERM is one of the deceivers mentioned by Spirit, the questions remain, why did the U.S. State Department accept an environmental report from a company with alledged conflicts of interest? And who convinced them to accept it?

TransCanada, the company attempting to build the Keystone XL Pipeline, are certainly happy with ERM's report.

The veil of the deceivers is beginning to be lifted, just as Spirit predicted.

Great Barrier Reef Marine Park - Conflict of Interest

In December 2013 Environment Minister Greg Hunt approved the dredging to create one of the world's biggest coal ports at Abbot Point on Queensland's Great Barrier Reef. The plan approved by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (GBRMPA), includes dumping the sledge from the dredging inside Great Barrier Reef marine park area.

On the 31st of January 2014, GBRMPA officially approved the dumping of millions of cubic metres of dredged sludge within the waters of the park (instead of dumping the sledge on land).

Two GBRMPA board members at the time the dumping was approved, Tony Mooney and Jon Grayson, are still under investigation for potential conflicts of interest, including links to mining companies.

Potential conflicts of interest were raised with Tony Mooney earning $250,000 as an executive for the mining company Guildford Coal, and Grayson owning a one-sixth shareholding in the inactive Gasfields Water and Waste Services, a company which corrupt former Labor powerbroker Eddie Obeid’s son, Eddie Obeid jnr, also had a one-sixth shareholding in for a time.

The dumping of the sludge has been approved even though these conflicts of interest were known.

So the questions have to be asked: Why has a report allowing dredging and dumping in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park been accepted even though two members of the Board that allowed it, allegedly stand to financially gain from it? And who are the deceivers now telling us that this doesn't matter?

After numerous environmental disasters costing the state billions of dollars, it has become even more difficult to save the Great Barrier Reef against strong mining interests.

The Queensland Government is cash strapped and needs the money.

Queensland's Premier Campbell Newman has implied that without the dredging, Queensland would not be able to afford basic services: He said, "We are in the coal business... If you want decent hospitals, schools and police on the beat we all need to understand that."

Campbell Newman and the Queensland Government apparently doesn't believe or doesn't care that burning all of the coal that will be exported through the Great Barrier Reef will increase the effects of climate change and cause more of the natural disasters that have caused the state to be strapped for cash in the first place.

The coal mines that will export through Abbot Point will emit triple the greenhouse gas emissions of the Keystone XL pipeline, or six times the UK's annual footprint.

"The massive coal expansion planned by Australian companies and governments is one of a handful of projects in the world that would take the planet beyond the point of no return if they were to go ahead." - 350.org

On purely environmental grounds (saving the planet from environmental collapse), the mining of extra coal and exporting it through newly dredged ports on the Great Barrier Reef would never be approved.

The United Nation's World Heritage Committee has said that the Reef will be listed as a threatened ecosystem unless government takes steps to protect it. In light of the approval of dredging and dumping of sludge in the park, the World Heritage Committee now has to decide whether or not to include the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park on its list of world heritage sites that are considered to be in danger.
